Anxiety Facts
- Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults 18 and over, or 18.1% of population.
- It is very treatable (up to 90 percent of cases), but only 1/3 actually receive treatment for it.
- People with anxiety disorders are 3-5x more likely to go to the doctor, and 6x more likely to be hospitalized for psychiatric disorders than non-sufferers.
- Depression often accompanies anxiety disorders.
- Physiological symptoms accompany anxiety, such as GI problems, blood pressure, difficulties with sleep, and other related issues such as panic attacks.
